Photo-realist art - Ran Ortner - layers of the sea

more than a few months ago, Free Planet featured the photo-realistic oil-pastel sea-scape finger-painting of Zaria Forman. The equally-amazing photo-realistic sea-scape oil-paintings of Ran Ortner is today's topic: what an amazing portfolio.

In 2005 Ortner began to confront his life long intoxication with the ocean.  Influenced by the emotional complexity of great old master paintings Ortner began to explore a particular kind of intensity realized through the layering of oil paint.  Through his process Ortner holds both the muscular immediacy and the delicacy he experiences in the ocean.
